SGHSC Annual Cultural & Art Festival–2026 Concludes Successfully

 

The three-day SGHSC Annual Cultural & Art Festival–2026 concluded successfully at St. Gregory’s High School & College on Saturday evening, 25 July 2026, with a closing and prize-giving ceremony. Beginning on 23 July, the festival embraced the inspiring slogan, “Celebrating Humanity through Cultural Practice,” and featured enthusiastic student participation, creative performances, and rich presentations of art and literature.

The Gregorian Cultural Club, Gregorian Art and Handwriting Club, and Gregorian Drama and Film Club jointly organised the event to nurture students’ hidden talents and humanitarian values. The opening ceremony was held at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, 23 July. Sister Mabel Costa, RNDM, Principal of St. Francis Xavier’s Girls’ School & College, attended as chief guest. Brother Leonard Chandan Rosario, CSC, Vice Principal of SGHSC, was the special guest, while Principal Brother Placid Peter Ribeiro, CSC, presided. Club moderator Patitpaban Mondal was also present.

Students competed in English and Bangla poetry recitation, nursery rhymes, patriotic, Rabindra, Nazrul, folk, modern and Bangla band songs, drawing, handwriting, solo acting, and group acting. Dramatic performances creatively highlighted contemporary social issues, humanitarian values, and moral lessons.

The closing ceremony began at 4:00 p.m. on 25 July. Distinguished actor Nasir Uddin Khan and popular actress Tanzika Amin attended as guests of honour, enjoyed the performances, and presented prizes to the winners. They encouraged students to cultivate creativity, express themselves confidently, and remain connected to art and culture.

Principal Brother Placid Peter Ribeiro CSC thanked everyone involved and expressed hope for a larger festival in the future. Organisers said the programme aimed to develop creativity, confidence, leadership, teamwork, and humane qualities. Pubali Bank PLC provided special support. Students, guardians, and spectators enjoyed the joyful campus atmosphere, making the festival a memorable example of creative, aesthetic, and humanitarian development. The three-day celebration also inspired hopes for a responsible, compassionate society.
